"No thanks, Turkey!" is a dystopian children’s story riddled with allegories which present societal norms and customs covering the ubiquitous Thanksgiving culture in Greater America. The story revolves around a group of turkeys orchestrating a revolution to challenge the present status quo—the yearly slaughter of turkeys for Thanksgiving.
It begins with one turkey lamenting the cycle of fattening and eventual demise of his fellow feathered brethren in the hands of ever-hungry humankind. Unlike George Orwell’s Animal Farm, "No thanks, Turkey!" is a milder, witty and lighthearted version of the former, absent the all-too-familiar political undertones of Animal Farm. "No thanks, Turkey!" is a definite must-read this holiday season.
